The Inn at Shelburne Farms was once the summer home of the late Dr. William Seward and Ms. Lila Vanderbilt Webb. It has since been donated to non profit beginning in 1987 and remains an inn for guests to enjoy. The lovely interior is currently behind closed doors during these unprecedented times, but it is hopefully reopening next year.

The Inn is filled with much of the original decor and furnishings for guests to enjoy. The Inn sits adjacent to the incredible views of the Green Mountains of Vermont and the glorious Lake Champlain. The formal gardens are filled with an array of blooms and breathtaking statues. The esteemed gardens were designed by Gertrude Jekyll the well known British horticulturist, garden designer, craftswoman, photographer, writer and artist. She created over 400 gardens in the United Kingdom, Europe and the US! One of the David Austin rose varieties is actually named after her!

Every Summer we visit Shelburne Farms which is currently open as well as the formal gardens at the Inn. The views from the Inn couldn't be more lovely as you stroll through the lush gardens and take in the fantastic nature of Vermont.

I can't think of a better way to spend a morning and afternoon than touring the fabulous gardens and enjoying the incredible lakeside air than taking it all in at The Inn at Shelburne Farms. The walk through the farmland, seaside views and countryside is a fabulous way to get exercise from the farm to the formal gardens and Inn. It's peaceful, picturesque and reminiscent of a Claude Monet Painting.

The Inn at Shelburne Farms is a truly fascinating place filled with history and charm. The Webb's daughter was actually married at the Inn as many people are still today. It is the perfect wedding and special occasion venue with views like no other. I encourage you to visit their fabulous website and look into their incredible accommodations and farm.
